The design considerations of 3D printed parts differ from those produced by casting or machining.

 

The 3D printing technology enables design freedom of a dedicated part, that takes into consideration the functionalities, part requirements, and weight savings by creating different geometry while controlling the mechanical strength distribution in the part volume.

 

That is the reason why AMT Metal's engineers and mechanical designers first, deeply understand the customer's demands and constraints. Then, they use topological optimization algorithms to generate CAD models, that enable them to easily redesign the part and later can be sent to a 3D printer and turned into an actual physical part.
